This week's focus point - Read for Knowledge.
Statistically, most Americans stop reading regularly after high school. It's no wonder the "dumbing down" of America continues. When I read classic literature like Charles Dickens and The Tale of Two Cities, I wonder what these authors must think of our level of education. They are probably turning in their graves.
What and how often you read is important for your business. Being intellectual and smart helps when you are in conversations with clients and prospects. Being up-to-date on current events opens up avenues of dialogue and opportunity. Be diverse in your reading - business, fiction, spiritual, humor, biography, history, sports - you get my drift. The more you read the more interesting you become. The more interesting you are, the greater the opportunities to improve your business and your career.
