Ian 'Mac' McLagan & The Bump Band
Ian McLagan, naturally enough nicknamed "Mac" decades ago, first
rose to fame as a member of the Small Faces, one of England's most
popular bands from 1965-69, where they racked up an impressive 14 back
to back hit singles, and a massive British #1 LP, Ogden's Nut Gone Flake
in '68. In 1969, singer/guitarist Steve Marriott left to form Humble
Pie, and the band recruited Ron Wood on guitar and singer Rod Stewart,
and evolved into the Faces, who became one of the most popular touring
bands of the Seventies, hitting the charts with "Stay With Me," "Cindy
Incidentally," and "(I Know I'm) Losing You" (released as a Stewart
solo single), before founder/bassist Ronnie Lane's defection in the
wake of Stewart's solo success led the band to an early and
much-lamented demise. Since then, McLagan released several excellent solo albums,
participated in a Small Faces reunion, moved to L.A., toured and
recorded with Rod Stewart and The Rolling Stones, and did sessions for
artists as varied as Melissa Etheridge, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan,
Paul Westerberg, and countless others.

McLagan
got his start in early rock's Small Faces which
blossomed into the hard-rocking, genre-defining, heart
of Rock n Roll, The Faces. Ian McLagan went on
to work with a pantheon of performers including The
Stones, Springsteen, Dylan, Raitt, Etheridge, and The
Stray Cats. McLagan found
time in all that busyness to record solo efforts beginning
with 1979's excellent Troublemaker. Which
brings us to the present and his new album, titled NEVER SAY NEVER which he made
with his assembled Bump Band. On guitar "Scrappy"
Jud Newcomb,
bass Mark Andes (HEART,SPIRIT,JO JO GUNNE AND FIREFALL) and
drums Don Harvey.
