Dear Parents and Teachers,

I am honored to be chosen as the new principal of Vanderlyn Elementary!  I have spent the last four years as the Assistant Principal of Instruction where I have had great success in the areas of curriculum and instruction, student achievement and parental involvement.  With this experience, I am sure that my transition into my new role will be a seamless one.
Over the course of my twenty year career in education, I have had a wide range of experiences that include a magnet and theme school background and extensive experience in gifted education. These experiences have given me a unique perspective as to how effective schools operate.  My global experiences include working with diverse students from all walks of life and from all around the world.

My broad experiences, coupled with your support will continue to grow Vanderlyn into an academic powerhouse.  I personally look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you this year. I believe you will be very pleased with the outstanding educational environment and wonderful opportunities we have planned for the 2012-2013 school term. I promise you every day your child will learn something new.  Some days they will bring it home in their hands. Some days they will bring it home in their heads, and some days they will bring it home in their hearts.
