Help is here for eReaders
So you finally got the eReader you always wanted for the holidays and you're ready to log on to Overdrive and take out the latest, hottest bestseller - for free! Then you not only find out that there's a waiting list for the library eBook you wanted (a possibility that comes as a surprise to many), but you can't for the life of you figure out why the old Grafton you settled for isn't downloading. And now you're ready to throw your Nook up against the wall and just go take out a hardcover from the library.
Help is a click away - and it's easier than ever!
My Help, to be exact, Overdrive's new and improved quick-start guide that will have you kicking back with your Kindle in no time.
When you click on the My Help icon, you'll see three questions across the top of your screen:
1) What do you want to do? will be followed by options such as Listen to audiobooks, Read eBooks, Listen to music, etc. If you choose Read eBooks, you're next question will be....
2) What do you have? Choose from the list of devices offered (Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader, etc.).Once you do this, you'll move on to
3)View My Help. This provides a user-friendly, step-by-step walk-through to get you ready to (in this case) read. You can start by confirming that you have the required software to get your eBook, follow the simple directions on how to install what you need, and learn how to authorize your computer or device.
Different devices, of course, have different requirements, and some are easier to set up than others. But My Help makes even the most complex process understandable.
And keep in mind that our library staff members are here to offer their help when the library's open! |

Circulation glitches still being ironed out Email notifications for soon-to-be overdue material have resumed! They had been suspended for a couple of weeks while adjustments were made to the new circulation system, but as of this week they're being sent out again.
This is just a reminder that our new circulation system as well as the new card catalog are still being phased in. There do remain a couple of bugs to be worked out, and we apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. Please bear with us through this transition. And thank you for your patience! |

Website of the week...
Goodreads is the largest site for book lovers and book reviews in the world. Based on founder Otis Chandler's belief that recommendations made by friends are more valuable than bestseller lists, the site not only allows readers to compile lists of what they've read, are currently reading, or want to read, but lets users peruse their friends' lists, as well.
Goodreads also offers suggestions to users based upon the libraries they've compiled within the site.
Registration is free - sign up today and start building your library!
