Art show a smash hit with parents, kids
Miss Christine poses with her artists at Wednesday's show.

A packed house admired the masterpieces created by Miss Christine's Young Artist Club members Wednesday night.

Parents, grandparents, and swarms of other relatives were on hand to see what their own young artists have been up to on Wednesday afternoons throughout the fall. As home movies were filmed and pictures were taken, it was hard to tell who was more proud- the kids themselves or their relatives.

A gigantic thanks to Miss Christine for creating and overseeing such a fantastic endeavor. And another huge thanks to the Friends of the Wallkill Public Library, the staff, and the parents and others who

Ins and outs of catalog
For those still struggling with our new online catalog, here's a brief tutorial:
To access your library account from home, go to the  Wallkill Public Library's website. Note that in the middle, right-hand side of the page, it reads, "Enterprise Catalog." If instead you see "Aquabrowser" or "Classic Catalog," you are not on the right page. As of Dec. 8, all the data from our old catalog was migrated to a new database.
To be sure you're connecting to the current database, type http://www.wallkillpubliclibrary.org into your browser. Do not use a shortcut, favorites, or bookmarks. Once you select Enterprise Catalog, you're in.
Select "Log In." Use the same login and pin number that you've always used (your entire library card number and the last four digits of the phone number we have on record for you). Note that you may now change your pin number (just remember to keep track of the new one if you do decide to change it!).
Once you're logged in, you can select "My Account" to review your personal information, holds, fines, etc. - just click on the respective tabs for whatever you want to look at. The "Holds" tab shows all the items you've requested. An exclamation mark indicates which items are available for pickup. Items without the exclamation mark may either be in transit or are not yet available.
If you've followed all these steps and are still unable to access the catalog, you may need to clean up your temporary Internet files. To do so, go to the "Internet Explorer" toolbar and select "Tools," "Internet Options," and "General." Under "Browsing History" options, click "Delete," and select files to delete.
You can also select the "Desk Cleanup" icon from your desktop or from the "System Maintenance" menu, which is usually found beneath "Accessories" on your list of Windows programs.
We know how frustrating it can be when you're adjusting to a new system, but in the end we're sure you'll love the new catalog - among its great features are additional search options, the ability to choose a specific item from a series, and the flexibility of choosing your pickup location. You can also pay your fines with a PayPal account, which allows you the luxury of paying from home if that suits you.
We hope this helps! If you're still experiencing problems, don't hesitate to stop in and see us or give us a call at 895-3707!

Overdue notices will be back soon!

We've received some questions regarding email notifications for soon-to-be overdue material. Formerly, email notices were sent out alerting patrons that their checked-out items were coming due so that they could renew them before incurring any fines.

Our new system WILL provide this same service, however there were various glitches within the system that had to be ironed out first. Please be patient - these email notices should resume soon. Remember you can check your account via the online catalog in the meantime, or give us a call at 895-3707 - we'll be happy to answer all of your questions!

No donations needed for now, please!
The Friends' Used Book Shop is temporarily not taking donations. Neither fiction nor nonfiction books are being accepted.
Please feel free to come in and browse the shelves, however! Where else can you get a bag full of books from every genre (some of which are out of print!) for a few dollars? And the store sells more than just books - you can also pick up stuffed animals, small collectibles, and packing decorative cans!
The store is open from noon to 7 p.m. Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays!
