Susan Jog
Church Hindes, Lois McClure, Susan Brodeur and Sharon Keegan
The sun shone down as 240 participants ran, walked, jogged and strolled to raise money for the Vermont Respite House 5K Fun Run & Jiggety Jog, held on Saturday, May 12, at Allen Brook School in Williston. More than $42,000 was raised for Vermont's only Medicare-certified hospice home to help provide room, board, personal care and special services for residents, regardless of their ability to pay.

Susan Brodeur of Milton was the top individual fundraiser and Team Irwin was the top team fundraiser.
Jesse and Sharon
Jesse Dunklee and Sharon Keegan

In the timed run, Jesse Dunklee of South Burlington was the top overall runner with a time of 17:02. Christina Burnett of Richmond was the top woman runner with a time of 20:42 and Sully Martin of Essex Junction was the top youth with a time of 20:43.

This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for participants to honor a loved one who has died at Vermont Respite House. Every year, we hear from friends and families about what Respite House means to them, about how Respite House represents love and hope and good memories of their loved one's last days.

Now we'd like to hear from you.
What does Vermont Respite House mean to you?

Please share with us on our Facebook page or email us at info@vnacares.org a word, a phrase or a story about what Vermont Respite House means to you or your family. We'll gather your responses during the month of June and feature them in an article in the fall edition of our VNACares newsletter.

Start the Conversation

Start the Conversation

In life, we prepare for everything - college, marriage, children and retirement. But, we seldom talk about preparing for end-of-life care. We'd like to help you start the conversation and increase your understanding of end-of-life options, how to share end-of-life wishes and how to record your decisions using Vermont's Advance Directive form.

We invite you to join a conversation:

 June 19, 2012

6:30-7:30 pm

The Lodge at Shelburne Bay

187 Pine Haven Shores Rd, Shelburne

Mary Loney, RN, CHPN, VNA Case Manager for End-of-Life Care Programs, will discuss end-of-life care options and introduce resources to help you start the conversation with your loved ones.

To register or for more information, call 802 658-1900 x3903 or email lecompte@vnacares.org.
