Jog With Us This Weekend!

Fun Run LogoIt's not too late to sign up for the Vermont Respite House 5K Fun Run and Jiggety Jog on Saturday, May 7, at Allen Brook School in Williston. This annual event raises money for Vermont's only Medicare-certified hospice residence.

Registration starts at 8 am and the run begins at 9 am.

This year, we're celebrating the 20th anniversary of Vermont Respite House. Our celebration will include an appearance by Champ, the return of the GymKids Academy cheerleaders, Mike and his Big Blue Trunk obstacle course races, a matching gift challenge, and more! Our Jiggety Jog "Grand Marshalls" are Respite House Founders. Thanks to our generous donors, over $40,000 has been raised already!

EPA Energy Star Rating for the VNA!

Energy Efficient
Second-floor windows at the Prim Road office were resealed last spring to help make the building more air-tight and heating more cost-efficient.
The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties Holly D. Miller building at 1110 Prim Road in Colchester has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star rating. This rating signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency. The award is given to commercial buildings that use an average of 35% less energy and also release 35% less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

"This is important for obvious environmental reasons, but also because homecare is inherently a less than "green" business," says Church Hindes, VNA President and CEO. "Hundreds of nurses, therapists, nursing assistants, social workers and care attendants travel throughout Chittenden and Grand Isle counties delivering needed care in the homes of over 5,000 individuals and families each year. We estimate that our caregivers travel over 1.5 million miles each year. Making our home office more energy efficient is an important way we can shrink our carbon footprint."
