St. Stephen's 1881 Legacy Society
Hurry, This Offer May Not Last!
Have you reached or exceeded that milestone age of 70 1/2 ? If so, congratulations. You have been through and seen a lot that you can share with your grandkids. That age also represents a milestone for your 401(k) and IRA's. The Internal Revenue Service mandates that you begin taking minimum distributions from those accounts. Those withdrawals are treated as ordinary income to you for income tax purposes.
However, at least for the 2011 tax year, you may donate amounts from your 401(k) and IRA's tax free. Those donations count toward your minimum annual distribution. This might be an excellent time to become a founder member of St. Stephen's 1881 Legacy Society. Congress may not renew this provision of the tax code for year 2012 and beyond, so now is a great time to act. Your broker or account manager must make the transfer for you, so contact them for details. Check with Chuck Cooprider, (303) 666-2161 or cscoop246@aol.com for more information.

The Sixth Annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve Service
Everyone is invited to attend the Thanksgiving Eve service again this year. It has been a wonderful experience in previous years and looks to be again this year since our own Brenda diZerega will be involved. It's a communion service involving seven churches which is something not done very often. Join us on November 23rd at Central Presbyterian Church (402 Kimbark St.) beginning at 7:00pm. See you all there.

The 2012 Stewardship Campaign is Underway!
This year's Stewardship Campaign started last Sunday, Oct. 16, and will end on Sunday Nov. 13. There will be a celebration to mark the end of the campaign on Sunday Nov. 20, with light food and refreshments between the services.
During each Sunday of the campaign you will hear from members of the Vestry, and from our Treasurer, Ken Cline. Ken will fill present the 2012 budget goals, along with details of each budget item.
Thanks again to all who pledged last year for making the drive a success! Ken will provide details of the 2012 Budget, but in short, to meet the goal of $300,000+ we will require an increase in the individual pledge average of 5% to approximately $2700 and an increase of 7-10 pledging units to a total of 105-108. Please consider this as you plan your giving for 2012.

Vince Heuring, Senior Warden

Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on mission project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas-Jesus Christ.
St Cecilia's Guild is going to sponsor the program again this year and we need YOUR help. We need to start collecting items to put in the shoeboxes. We hope everyone will participate in this ministry. Collection boxes will be in the Narthex. More information to follow.
There are several ways YOU can help with this ministry:
1) Bring items to church to be used to fill the boxes, fill the boxes and get them ready to take to Denver for shipping overseas. (Dollar stores are a good place to go, and school supply sales going on now.)
OR
2) Donate money to buy supplies and help with the shipping costs ($7.00) per box.
Here is a partial list of things to start looking for:
Small shirts, socks, ball caps, etc.
Toiletries - travel-size is ideal
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb, brush, etc.
Pencils, notebooks, crayons, markers etc.
Candy and gum
Small Toys and Card Games
Please bring your donations to the church by Sunday, November 13. The Girl Scouts will be helping pack the boxes that following week.
