Dear Friend,
We're contacting you today with news about Pittsburgh's economy and with the latest installment in our journalistic series on Pittsburgh's entrepreneurial progress. (If you would no longer like to receive emails from PittsburghTODAY, please use safe-unsubscribe below).
In August, the number of total nonfarm jobs in the Pittsburgh region was 1,160,200. The year-over-year job growth rate was 1.1 percent, below the benchmark average of 1.3 percent and placing the Pittsburgh region 9th out of 15 benchmark regions.
However, the growth rate over the past four years is still higher than any of our benchmark regions at 1.1 percent. Every other region had a net loss of jobs over that period.
Finally, please look for Part VI of PittsburghTODAY's Venture City series, "Universities and Incubators," -- you can read it by clicking here. The first five parts of the series are also available on PittsburghTODAY.org.
Thanks for your interest,
Douglas Heuck
