Highest Labor Force Figure Ever

Two weeks ago we reported that the Pittsburgh region had a record number of jobs in June. Data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the Pittsburgh region also hit a record number of people participating in the labor force at 1,247,043.  The region also had the highest year-over-year growth of any region at 2.0 percent.

The unemployment rate for the Pittsburgh region in June was 6.9 percent, 0.2 points higher than the rate in May but 0.4 points lower than the rate in June 2011.
