Lowest unemployment rate in more than 3 years |

Bureau of Labor Statistics employment and unemployment numbers for March 2012 released today reveal that the Pittsburgh region's unemployment rate continues to decline.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2012 was 6.7 percent, the lowest rate since February 2009's rate of 6.5 percent. Only three benchmark regions - Minneapolis, Boston, and Richmond - had lower unemployment rates in March.
The number of unemployed in the Pittsburgh region declined by 2,808 (3.3 percent) and the number of employed in the region increased by 22,387 (2.0 percent) year-over-year.
