Unemployment rate continues to decrease
|
Dear Friend,
The number of unemployed in the Pittsburgh MSA declined by more than 3 percent in February 2012 compared to February 2011, and the number of employed - as well as the total labor force - continued to grow. The seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate fell 0.3 percentage points compared to the same month a year ago.
The Pittsburgh region's not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in February 2012 was 7.6 percent, 0.3 percentage points lower than the rate in February 2011. The unemployment rate in every region declined over the same period. Pittsburgh's rate remains one of the lowest of our benchmark regions and well below the national average.
Sincerely,
Douglas Heuck
