Job Numbers Continue to Climb

The latest job figures reveal that the Pittsburgh region continues to see strong growth. The Pittsburgh region's not seasonally adjusted total nonfarm job number for February was 1,135,800, making it the second-highest February figure ever. The highest February figure was for 2001 at 1,142,600.

 

The Pittsburgh region gained 17,800 jobs year-over-year and 47,400 jobs since February 2010.

The Pittsburgh region gained 47,400 jobs between February 2010 and February 2012, a rate of 4.4 percent.

 

The natural gas, mining and consturction sector continues to do well, with a year-over-year growth rate of 6.4 percent and a two-year growth rate of 15.7 percent.
