Record Jobs Again in December

Dear Friend,

For the third month in a row, the Pittsburgh region has had a record number of jobs.  Total nonfarm job numbers for the Pittsburgh region in December were the highest level for any December ever. A record high for November was set last year, and we also had a record high October.

Total nonfarm jobs for the Pittsburgh region were up by 26,700 from December 2010 and up by 39,200 from December 2009. The job growth rate of 2.35 percent was stronger than that of any of our benchmark regions. Pittsburgh numbers were particularly strong in wholesale trade, education and health services, and natural resources, mining and construction

We will be updating many of our health indicators as well as home foreclosures and arts funding indicators in the near future.  Stay tuned!

Sincerely,
