Another Record High Month

Dear Friend,

Total nonfarm job numbers for the Pittsburgh region in November were the highest level for any November ever. As you may recall, a record high for October was set last month. Total nonfarm jobs for the Pittsburgh region were up by 23,400 from November 2010 and up by 37,600 from November 2009. The job growth rate of 2.05 percent was stronger than all benchmark regions except Boston (also 2.05 percent). Pittsburgh numbers were particularly strong in goods producing, wholesale trade, education and health services, and natural resources, mining and construction

The year-over-year job growth rate for the Pittsburgh region in November was over 2 percent.

In addition, we have added a new Sustainability category to the PittsburghTODAY site. The new Sustainability Indicators were launched at Sustainable Pittsburgh's 11th Annual Smart Growth Conference last week.

We wish all of you Happy Holidays and look forward to bringing you new indicators, updates and special reports in the new year!

Sincerely,
