Labor Force, Wages Increase;
Crime Remains Low |
Dear Friend,
Employment figures released yesterday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that while the number of unemployed grew in the Pittsburgh MSA in August 2011 compared to August 2010, the number of employed - and therefore the total labor force - also grew. The unemployment rate remained unchanged compared to the same month a year ago.
| The Pittsburgh region was second in year-over-year labor force growth in August. |
Figures released today from the BLS on avearge weekly wages reveal that
the average weekly wages in the Pittsburgh region in the first quarter of 2011 grew 5.8 percent versus the same quarter last year.
New crime statistics released last week show that crime rates in the Pittsburgh region and the City of Pittsburgh remain comparatively low.
Sincerely,
Doug Heuck
