July unemployment numbers steady |

New numbers out this morning show that the Pittsburgh region's seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate in July was 7.5 percent, down from 8.0 percent in July 2010.

July employment and labor force numbers are also out for Pittsburgh and our benchmark regions, showing that employment in the Pittsburgh region was up by 10,317 and the labor force up by 4,718 compared with July 2010. Finally, we would like to issue a correction to our email blast from Tuesday.
In 2010, Greater Pittsburgh saw an increase in overall energy employment and also in employment in energy extraction. Employment in the categories of energy generation and energy supply chain declined slightly.
