Pittsburgh jobs up again in July

The total number of nonfarm jobs in the Pittsburgh region continues to rise. In July there were 1,143,700 jobs in the region, a 1.3% increase over July 2010.   Only two of our benchmark regions - Boston and Milwaukee - had higher year-over-year job growth rates.

In addition, PittsburghTODAY recently updated our housing vacancy indicator with data from the 2010 Census.  The new data reveals that the vacancy rate in the Pittsburgh region (9.1%) is above the benchmark average (8.7%) but below the national average (11.4%).
