Pittsburgh wages recovering

The Bureau of Labor Statistics' fourth quarter 2010 wage numbers show that average weekly wages in Greater Pittsburgh increased by 3.16 percent, outperforming seven Benchmark regions between fourth quarter 2009 and 2010.

Average annual pay increased similarly: Pittsburgh outperformed seven Benchmark regions with an increase of 2.74 percent between fourth quarter 2009 and 2010.

 

In the 22-county Pittsburgh Region, Greene County and Monongalia County, W.Va. fared better than all others in average weekly wages between fourth quarter 2009 and fourth quarter 2010, with weekly wage increases reaching more than eight percent. Hancock County, W. Va. fared worst among regional counties with a decrease in weekly wages of more than 11 percent. Weekly wages in Allegheny County increased by 2.65 percent.
