How do your products protect against RFID theft?
In order to understand how Identity Stronghold products work their protection magic, we must first understand how RFID technology works.
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID chips are used in credit and debit cards, ID and access cards, auto key fobs, passport cards and booklets, inventory items, etc. The uses are large and diverse, and that helps explain why the technology has expanded so quickly, and often without sufficient testing.
Typically the RFID chip sits in its host quietly, awaiting the wake-up call from an RFID reader. The reader sends out a query to the target chip via radio frequency waves, the target chip turns on, delivers its information wirelessly back to the reader and then goes 'back to sleep'. The fact that this transaction takes place 'wirelessly' is the problem.
Unprotected RFID loaded devices can be queried wirelessly, without the owner's notice, and important and valuable information taken without the owner's knowledge.
Simply put, Identity Stronghold products prevent the RF signal from reaching its target RFID chip until the time is right. Then the owner removes the credit, debit, ID or access card from its protective shield, places it near the reader for transaction, and then returns it to its protective space.
Identity Stronghold was the first company ever to begin protecting consumers and government agencies from unwanted scanning of RFID cards and devices. You can trust our technology, whether it is our Secure Sleeves® for credit or debit cards or passport booklets or cards, our Secure Wallets™ or our Secure Badgeholders®.
