About Walt

Where's WaltWalt Augustinowicz is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) industry thought-leader, consumer advocate and founder of Identity Stronghold. He is best known for taking on the major credit card companies over the issue of "electronic pickpocketing," a term used to describe the high-tech ways in which criminals use radio waves, smart phones, compact computers and point-of-sale card readers to steal identities and confidential financial information remotely. He is also credited with coining the phrase "electronic pickpocketing" during an interview with WREG's consumer reporter Scott Knoll on the streets of Memphis. Click here to read more...

Passports Need Protection, Too!

passport no slots no bkgd

All US Passport booklets issued since October 2006 have RFID chips in their back cover that include information on the passport owner. That information includes everything that is seen on the first page of the passport, including:

  • Passport Photo
  • Name
  • Place of birth
  • Date of birth
  • Country of origin
  • Passport number

Hackers with the right skills and equipment may be able to scan some or all of that information. U.S. Passports contain shielding material in the front cover to try and stop this but we have found that the covers do not stay closed well enough to prevent reading of the data on the embedded chip.

Protect yourself now with Identity Stronghold Secure Sleeves for Passports or Secure Leather for Passports.

All of our passport holders will protect not only your passport inside the holder, but any additional cards with RFID ships embedded in them. Every single slot is entirely shielded individually.

We carry passport holders with or without card slots. For holders with slots, there is also an extra shielded pouch behind the card slots that can hold bills, receipts, etc.

These soft leather passport holders are used by both men and women.
