Schedule for the weekend is :

Friday May 4th from 5:30 to 9:30pm - ArtWalk 

Saturday May 5th from 9am to 4pm - Marina Market Days 

Sunday May 6th @ 8:30am - Bridgewalk  &"Fitness Sunday"

  

Continuing in May:  

The program of Public Art Tours similar to those conducted during Festival of the Arts. will run again. Please call 361-883-ARTS  for more info and to book a seat on one of the two morning tram tours any ArtWalk morning

  

Update: 

During ArtWalk evening be sure to hop on the RTA "ArtWalk Express" (RTA Route #79 which will run as a free service between 5:30 & 9:00pm) and visit the museums in S.E.A. Town which offer free entry to ArtWalkers on ArtWalk night. The Festival of the Arts office at 1521 N Chaparral. The Art Museum, the Asian Cultures Museum, and the Science & History Museum are all open free to ArtWalkers. 

  

News:

Saturday, at Marina Market Days, the new Saturday "MusicWalk"once again kicks off from noon until 4pm with Paulson and West at Market Days followed by music throughout Downtown all Saturday evening. Urban Fare Cafe and Seawall Food and Spirits commence their summer season programs and many other venues also have Saturday evening live music.

  

Parking:
As ArtWalk grows more successful so the process of parking Downtown becomes more of an issue. Laz Parking have agreed to offer a $2 rate on ArtWalk night (also $2 all day Saturday during Marina Market Days) at their 400 block Water Street site next to AKA Sushi.

La Retama Park: 

is the focal point of ArtWalk. This is where you can obtain free information and maps. It is also where the tram and RTA Express connect and where the prize draw takes place.

  • Food vendor Callie's Cajun will be back in the park after again this month.
  • Entertainment in the park will be provided by TAMUCC from 5:30 til 8:30pm
  • Free kids art activities by K Space Contempoary and Corpus Christi Books.
  • There will be a selection of arts and crafts (not resale) vendors open from 5:30pm until 9pm including a food vendor and Uncertain Farms (from Marina Market Days) will be in the park with a selection of jams, fruit & vegetables for sale.
  • Maps and flyers are available from the Information booth, Parking Control Officers on their electric carts, and on the RTA ArtWalk Express. The DTown Tram will also have a supply of maps  and of course, HOBO will be there providing their usual brand of Honkadelic entertainment.  
  • The Prize Draw will take place at 8:45pm and prizes can be viewed by clicking HERE

    In partnership with the Corpus Christi Film Society will be showing the film  "Once" at 7pm.  
  • Blue Bistro at 500 Water Street
    Featuring Art Barrera the one man project perfornming on the patio from 6 - 9pm 
  • Envoy Mortgage Company at 509 Lawrence Street
    Featuring the art of Coastal Bend Artists, Adrienne Torres, Mary Lou Torres, Lacey Shrum, Mary Martin, and Laurette Escobar, together with light refreshments and music by TBA  
  • K Space Contemporary 415 Starr Street
    Opening in the Main Gallery:  Appliance Art featuring works of art made from household and industrial appliances, electronic gadgets and battery-operated thingamajigs by some of the most creative, whacky, and wonderful Corpus Christi artists.
    Opening in the Gift Shop:  Project Slicker- Condom Couture for the Runway.  This exhibition features fashions from Family Planning of the Coastal Bend's annual fundraiser and fashion show of designs made out of condoms.
    In the Corner Spot:  NASTY -  internationally renowned printmakers Tom Huck and Bill Fick.   (parental guidance suggested)  
  • La Bahia Restaurant at 429 Schatzell Street
    Will be open 24 hours on ArtWalk night and features Spray paint artists on the sidewalk. 
  • La Retama Park
    As well as musicians on stage from 6 til 8pm TAMUCC students will provide entertainment at 5:30 and 8pm 
  • Moon Goddess by the Sea. Located at Water Street Village. 505 S. Water St. #507. 
     Featuring Mark Garcia  aka El Mago. Which means magician. With his smooth latin rhythm guitar remenisent of  Carlos Santana.
  • Sonja's restaurant at 424 N Chaparral
    Will  be open for dinner and also have a DJ performing on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. 
  • The Treehouse Art Collective at 409D WaterStreet Market
    Featuring the colorful artwork of painter, Andrea Harwell this month.  Andrea believes being involved with art brings many new associations that enrich her life.
    Also featuring "Art from the Wise Heart" an art show in celebration of older Americans.  
  • Urban Fare Cafe at 425 William Street
    This fresh new cafe, offering a healthier alternative menu, features the art of local artists on its walls this Friday night music by Jimmy Willden. Also, at 7pm,  belly dancing by Hourglass Bellydance.

Saturday Marina Market Days & MusicWalk

MusicWalk

The Marina Market Days Festival is held the first Saturday each Month from 9am until 4pm. Since Marina Market Days began in 2011, the Festival draws visitors in from all over and is routinely ranked as one of the best place on the Gulf Coast to come relax and seek out what creative vendor have to offer.

Thousands of people converge to the Corpus Christi Waterfront including Marina Market Days packed with entertainment, art, crafts, fresh farm to market products, interactive activities provided by Texas A&M University, Texas Parks & Wildlife, artist demonstrations, and more.  Our beautiful Corpus Christi Waterfront is great place to spend time with families and friends while enjoying Marina Market Days and visiting all nearby attractions to be enjoyed.

 

 

Every Market Days, from 12 noon until 4pm, the Saturday MusicWalk kicks off with music on the T-Head. This month featuring the classic rock and country sounds of "Paulson and West".

BridgeWalk LOCATION: The Galvan House, 1581 Heritage Park:

From May 6th the walk will commence at 8:30am and, hopefully, the appeal of this event will be broadened as we introduce four new activities to the event. 

Starting on Sunday May 6th we will have the following going on at Heritage Park:

  • · 8:30am - 11:30am              Origami for kids by Heather Taylor

Also, The Centenniel House at 411 Upper Broadway is now open the first Sunday of the Month from Noon - 4pm...Special tours for 10 or more may be arranged by calling 882-8691.
We are always looking for volunteers to help out on ArtWalk nights. Tasks include helping to set up / take down tents in the park, handing out maps / flyers throughout Downtown or on the tram / RTA Express, supervising the kids art area in the park, and many other small but helpful chores.

Come on Downtown the first Friday of every month between 5:30 and 9pm and join us for art, music, entertainment, refreshments and lots more.
Ride the DTown tram (free) with on board band - HOBO or the RTA ArtWalk Express #79 (also free) and be sure to come to the prize draw held at 8:45pm in La Retama Park at Peoples and Mesquite where first prize is an artist donated piece of art and other prizes include valuable gift certificates from Downtown businesses and the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District.
