Greetings!
A Reminder: The October ArtWalk takes place on Friday September 30th as part of the Corpus Christi First Initiative. This anomaly will not occur again until September 2012 on the Labor Day weekend. First Friday ArtWalk lives! The October "edition" of "Corpus Christi First" ..... Schedule for the weekend is : Friday Sept 30th from 5:30 to 9:30pm - ArtWalk Saturday Oct 1st from 9am to 4pm - Marina Market Days Sunday Oct 2nd at 9:00am - Bridgewalk without a bridge Continuing in October: The pilot program of Public Art Tours similar to those conducted during Festival of the Arts. will run again. At the time of writing both tours are fully booked. However please call 361-549-3246 for more info and to book a seat on the tram for November 4th. Update: During ArtWalk evening be sure to hop on the RTA "ArtWalk Express" and visit The Museum of Asian Cultures which offers free entry to ArtWalkers on ArtWalk night. On September 30th an RTA representative will be riding the bus to confirm timings for this service which we expect to relaunch, on November 4th, as RTA Route 70 - The ArtWalk Express. This improvement will provide ArtWalkers with a timed bus service which uses existing official bus stops. Details will be published in the next newsletter, on artwalkcc.com, and will be included on the next generation ArtWalk Map. News: Watch out for our new TV advert which will run on Ch3, Ch6, and Time Warner Cable during the week leading up to each ArtWalk. There is also a link to the YouTube version on artwalkcc.com In support of breast cancer awareness The Junior League girls will be decorating La Retama Park, the Miradors and the ArtWalk walking path as part of the "Unique Pink Bayfront". These decorations will remain in place throughout the month of October along with the other Pink Bayfront decorations due to be unveiled from the Marina to the Watergardens in mid October. Parking: As ArtWalk grows more successful so the process of parking Downtown becomes more of an issue. Laz Parking have agreed to offer a $2 rate on ArtWalk night (also $2 all day Saturday during Marina Market Days) at their 400 block Water Street site next to AKA Sushi. Trivia: On this day in history in 1630, and I'm not just stringing you along here, the first criminal to be executed in the American colonies was hanged. In 1861, a fact to chew on, William Wrigley Jr was born. And "Chances Are" (#1 hit in 1957) none of you bright young things have even heard of Johnny Mathis who was born on this day in 1935. And the Chic Murray joke of the month:
"Kippers- fish that like a lot of sleep"
(Hint: Kip is British slang for sleep)
See you all Downtown next Friday. |
