Biz Talk With Josh Smith
Thursday, October 11, 2012 Immigrants and Small Business "More than one is six small business owners in The United States is an immigrant." According to the Fiscal Policy Institute's (FPI) July 2012 report from their Immigration Research Initiative. FPI further states that, "immigrants - people born in another country - make up 19 percent of all small business owners in the United States." Sounds like opportunities to create and grow a small business abound in the USA, and those who come here from other shores with an entrepreneurial mindset are often likely to find sources of information about and support for their business along with a consumer market for their products and services unlike anywhere else in the world. Join Josh Smith this Thursday when his guests will be Mr. David Dyssegaard Kallick, Senior Fellow and Director of FPI's Immigration Research Initiative (FPI); Mr. Peter Gonzales, President & CEO, The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians; and Mr. Daniel Coates, Lead Organizer, Make the Road New York - an affiliate of Main Street Alliance. Josh and his guests will be talking about the immigrant-owned small businesses in America that employ 4.7 million people, and generate $776 billion in receipts (according to the latest Census data available - 2007).
