Crime, Law Enforcement, and Small Business
Running a small business is full of challenges, but even after solving the normal challenges like hiring and retaining good employees, financing the business, and keeping clients happy -- there are several wild cards to consider, and crime is one of them. One of the least researched wild cards is the impact of crime on small business.
This Thursday's Biz Talk With Josh, hosted by Joshua Smith, will discuss the respective duties, responsibilities and backgrounds of the Chief of Police of Montgomery County, Maryland and the Sheriff of Prince George's County, Maryland. They will share with the listening audience their ideas and recommendations to make the lives of small-business owners, their families, and their businesses in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, safer. J. Thomas Manger has been a law enforcement officer for over 35 years. He has led the Montgomery County police force as Chief since 2004. Chief Manger began his career with the Fairfax County (VA) police department in 1977, and rose to the chief of police position in 1998. He served as chief there until taking the Montgomery County position.
Melvin C. High was elected to the office of Sheriff in Prince George's County in 2010, and has been a law enforcement officer for more than 43 years - including serving as chief of police in Prince George's County from 2003-2008.
