The American Jobs Act as proposed by President Obama includes $245 billion in employee and employer payroll tax cuts. It features $140 billion in infrastructure and local aid; extends unemployment insurance and provides tax credits for hiring the long-term unemployed, and work opportunities for low-income individuals. It will create incentives for small businesses to hire and grow from now into 2012. But does the Act have the support of business organizations and will it be able to pass a vote in Congress - and if not, why?
To explore the Act and its impact on small businesses, Joshua Smith's guest this Thursday will be William C. Dunkelberg, Ph.D., a nationally known authority on small business, entrepreneurship, consumer credit and government policy. Dr. Dunkelberg is the Chief Economist at the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and Professor of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University. Josh and Dr. Dunkelberg will be joined by Mr. Brad Eiffert, Co-Owner, Boone County (Columbia, MO) Lumber Company, and NFIB Board member.
You will want to hear NFIB's strong positions on what the Act does and does not do for small businesses. This promises to be quite revealing.
