The Republic of Ghana, located in West Africa with a population of 23 million people, is bordered by Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. The economy of Ghana has been listed as The World's Fastest Growing Economy in 2011 in economic research led by Economy Watch with data coming from the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) tracker of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  90% of Ghana's businesses are micro, small, and medium enterprises. There are 300,000 small businesses in Ghana, and most of them employ less than 100 people.  In the U.S., there are 29.6 million small businesses, and small firms with less than 500 employees represent 99.9 percent of that number. 

To discuss Ghana's economic achievements and its positive climate for business, trade, and  international programs, on Thursday June 30, Joshua Smith has the pleasure of interviewing Ghana's Minister for Trade and Industry, The Honorable Hannah Tetteh.  Madame Tetteh was appointed Minister for Trade and Industry in February 2009. She was elected a Member of Parliament in 2000, a position she held for  five years (2000-2005). In addition, she worked as Legal Officer with the International Federation of Women Lawyers, and held several positions with Ghana Agro Food Company, Ltd. between 1995-2009, ending her career with Ghana Agro in the position of General Manager, Administration & Legal.
