People take many different paths to come to the conclusion that they need to start their own businesses. These paths include seeking financial independence and security; being frustrated with a current workplace or career; looking for achievement and self-fulfillment; pursuing a personal passion; and creating a business to satisfy a necessity unfulfilled in one's community.
This week's Biz Talk With Josh Smith's guests took two of these paths, intersecting on the road to their entrepreneurial lifestyle. One entrepreneur, Roger Stolle, started his business - following a successful career as a marketing director at a global retail firm where he reported to the president and CEO - to follow his passion for blues music and folk art. The other entrepreneur, Jerome Boykin, Jr., a Hurricane Katrina survivor, began his business by looking around his community at the refuse riddled parking lots in and around New Orleans and said, "someone needs to clean up these places, how can I make that someone me?"
Tune in this Thursday, May 26th to hear the stories of two entrepreneurs who made the decision that entrepreneurship was the way for them - both started businesses that are rather unique - and who are excelling at what they do. Mr. Roger Stolle is the Founder of Cat Head Delta Blues & Folk Art, Inc. in Clarksdale, MS, and Mr. Jerome Boykin, Jr. is the Founder and CEO of JB Sweeping Services in New Orleans, LA.
