On the upcoming Thursday, February 17th broadcast of Biz Talk With Josh Smith, Host Joshua Smith is pleased and honored to bring to his listening audience one of the most interesting political and business figures in the United States, banker, entrepreneur and former governor of the great state of Louisiana, Charles "Buddy" Roemer. After receiving his MBA in Finance from Harvard Business School, "Buddy" Roemer returned to Louisiana to form Innovative Data Systems (Computer software) and Red River Valley Bank. In 1973, he was elected a delegate to re-write the Louisiana Constitution, and in 1980, elected to Congress, where he served on the Banking, Public Works, and Small Business Committees of the House during his 8-years as a member. Mr. Roemer also served as a leader of the Conservative Democrats (Boll Weevils) in the U.S. House during the Reagan Presidency. In 1987, Mr. Roemer was elected Governor of Louisiana and served from 1988 to 1992. Following the organization, funding and founding of The Business Bank in Baton Rouge, LA in 1998, which he sold in the Fall of 2004, Mr. Roemer's formed his current bank holding company, Business First Bank of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In addition to being CEO and President of Business First Bank, Mr. Roemer is also Chairman of the Board and co-owner of CRSA, a senior living developer and manager of some four dozen continuous care retirement communities in 20 states. He is on the Board of Directors of the Baton Rouge General Hospital and the Salvation Army.
