Effective immediately, Fannie Mae is implementing a new process for identifying properties with potentially defective drywall. Additionally, all properties that may have defective drywall will no longer be listed until further review of the property can be made.
Action Required for All Fannie Mae Brokers, Listing Agents and Asset Management Providers (AMPs)
- Take the Training for Potentially Defective Drywall by October 31. It will detail how to properly identify, document, and report potentially defective drywall based on the current guidance from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
- Review your current inventory and thoroughly document any evidence of potentially defective drywall.
- Report any potential cases to Fannie Mae:
- Email drywall_information@fanniemae.com Copy your Fannie Mae Sales Representative or Asset Manager
- Make sure the subject line reads as follows:

- Record your findings in your appropriate system of record
Upon receipt of your email notification, the Fannie Mae Sales Representative will cancel the listing (if the property is currently listed).
