All 4 of our family members returned this week from a missions trip to Panama with Jesus Film Harvest Partners. We saw and helped lead 202 people come to Christ! A full report is listed below. Click here to learn more about this ministry.
One of the biggest ministry "take aways" for me was the power of the invitation to follow Christ. I suspended the sermon series I had planned on beginning this week and instead and will preach a sermon I'm entitling "Follow Me" based on Mark 2:14 and 8:34. Click here to follow the sermon notes. I'll share a little about our trip to Panama and the resulting increased heart for outreach that I have, especially after reading an article this week citing 306,492 people within driving distance of our church who don't even claim a religion! Click here for a link to that article.
By the way, the sermon series I plan to preach beginning next week is based on Ephesians 4-5 and is called "Snap Decisions - making wise choices in a hurried world." We have to make quick decisions in the course of our lives, and Paul gives us a few short questions we can ask ourselves to help us be able to make wise decisions quickly.

From Pastor Brent's personal life: This week I've been ministered to by not only the great daily devotions led by Chuck Watson, Jesus film ministries director (click here for his newsletter), but also by a sermon by Dr. Stan Toler - one in which he quotes from our friend Bill Burch, speaker at last fall's Faith Promise here at First Church. Click here to hear that message.
Of course, I'm also growing quickly through the study of the book The Resolution for Men. I'm seeing my marriage with Susan improve even more through God's direction through that study. I'm know you're experiencing the same thing as we're all going through that study. To be honest, I'm listening to the book through audio form. That was extremely convenient for our trip. You can listen to the book in audio form too! Click here for info about that. I'm looking forward to meeting movie star Kevin Downes on Father's Day, June 17!
See you at 10:30 in the room behind the organ for prayer!
