A mission agency on the west coast, USA is doing "evangelism outreach" by offering 'Free Hugs" to passerby's. (see photo below)
No Gospel preached! Just "Hugs"! Donors out there are giving hundreds
of thousands of dollars to this California street ministry. I can only
wonder "Why?"; in Jesus Name "Why?"
Look below at GlobeWorks International and P.E.F.'s street
outreach to Savannah, Georgia, April 10 - 19, 2010. Linda, myself and 8
others trained 55 Presbyterian teens and older adults in street
evangelism soul winning techniques. We then "went out" led by the
pastor, Dr. Daren Russell, GWI affiliate Mark Grasso, the Hands, Linda
& Dale Cutlip... to the mall's... to the schools... door to door...
to the city parks and streets from 11 AM... until sometimes 8 PM at night.
Results?... Our 50 or so newly trained Soul Winners shared Christ's
Gospel with over 175 stranger contacts... Blacks, Whites, Asians, Jews,
Atheists, church goers, Muslims, Mormons. 50 of these prayed to
receive Christ in their hearts as Savior. Tedious, sometimes terrifying
work (one of our teams was surrounded by 2 snarling Pit Bulls when
going door to door).
Follow up? Being done even today by Dr.
Russell, the pastor, and his elders at The Chapel in the Gardens
Presbyterian Church (PCA), Savannah.
One lady trainee who went out
daily with Linda, myself and our church trainers was 86 years old and
"on a walker"! She never missed in the 5 days publicly witnessing. Any excuses for you and
I not boldly telling strangers about Christ?...
