Burcham Attends 2011 Economic Forecast Event
| |
Michael W. Burcham |
Michael Burcham, Prof. L.S., branch manager of McCrone's Elkton office, attended New Castle County's Fourth Annual Economic Development Council Forecast Event in Wilmington, Delaware in February.
One of the Mid-Atlantic Region's most recognizable economists, Dr. Anirban Basu, delivered a very informative and engaging presentation on the economic outlook for Delaware and the surrounding region. Dr. Basu was relatively optimistic that 2011 will basically mirror the economic activity experienced in 2010 .
The main question Americans are asking today is--have we seen the worst in employment reduction? A real end to the recession will be the restoration of consumer confidence. |

ICSC Deals Done at "Warp Speed"
Christina Pompa, AICP was able to see first-hand how developers and retailers "deal" at the International Council of Shopping Center (ICSC) Mid-Atlantic Conference and Deal Making at National Harbor in February. Conference highlights included:
- A development runway which showcased the Washington Metropolitan Area's most significant new retail projects;
- A capital markets overview that focused on where the money is and how deals are getting done; and
- The retailers' runway featuring retailers who are entering or new to the Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia area.
The Deal Making allowed time for retailers, developers, and realtors to network and seek deals. This being Christina's first Deal Making conference, she described the event as a form of "speed dating" for retailers and developers where they meet, greet, and deal at "warp speed." |
