The Loma Vista Staff would like to proudly thank our PTO and parent community for all of your kind support as we venture through this crazy state budget crisis. Art Master Program
Our Art Master Program is underway at Loma Vista with a focus on these fine artists: Cezanne, Monet, Homer, Van Gogh, and Picasso. The Art Master program offers sequential study in visual arts designed to compliment the history, social studies, and language arts frameworks. Under the amazing guidance of our art teacher, Trish Booth, our students most recently studied the art of Winslow Homer displayed in the MPR. Be sure to check out our amazing Cougar artists! |

 Our re-labeling project is going fabulously! If we can keep it up, the whole Library should be done before the end of February! Can you spare some time to help? We are in the Library every Monday and Wednesday from 8:45 to 11:00 and would love to see you! If those days or times don't work for you, contact Mrs. Farrington, our wonderful librarian, and see if the Library is open when you are free! See you in the Library!

| 5th Grade Parents: 5th Grade Human Development Info |
As part of the Tustin Unified School District curriculum, we provide a unit of instruction on Human Growth and Development for fifth grade students. This instruction is scheduled for Loma Vista students Friday, March 12th. This unit is conducted separately for boys and girls and is totally optional and voluntary.
We will use three media for this program:
Growing Up Boys - 18 Minutes
Growing Up Girls - 18 Minutes
Safety: Out of the Danger Zone - (both boys and girls) 16 minutes
Safety: Out of the Danger Zone deals with stranger awareness. It reminds students of ways to protect themselves from strangers
California Education Code Section 51550 requires that parents and guardians be notified of any school classes in which the human reproductive organs and their functions or processes are either described, illustrated, or discussed. Videos to be used in this program will be available for parent preview on Tuesday, February 9th, at 6:00 p.m. in Room A-1; if this will help you make a decision regarding participation please plan to attend. |

Thank you to Dave and Patti Sigafus for working to put together a professional DVD, complete with commentary from some of Loma Vista's own stars:

The DVD will be available for pre-order at the Talent Show and order forms will also be sent home next Friday.
The cost is $10.00 and all proceeds will benefit the Loma Vista PTO.

This is a wonderful evening to spend with your daughter. We will be serving a pizza dinner and hosting a wonderful speaker who will talk to us about changes our girls can begin expecting.

This is a terrific evening for boys and their dads to spend together. We will be barbequeing hotdogs and hosting a wonderful speaker who will talk to boys and their dads about changes they can expect.
Please note: students are not limited to a parent for these evenings: a grandparent, uncle or aunt, big brother or sister or family friend is welcome to accompany them. |
