| The DINO DASH Mascot Visits Loma Vista |
 DINO DASH is coming November 1st!
At Friday's flag ceremony, the DINO DASH mascot visited Loma Vista. The lovable green monster danced to the music, helped hand out Cougar Cards and helped distribute Box Top Contest prizes. Registration for DINO DASH can be accessed through 2009 DINO DASH. Remember, for every SINGLE person you register on-line, $6 goes to the Loma Vista teacher of your choice. ($5 of each paper registration will be returned to your child's classroom.) A family of 4 can donate $24 to their child's classroom!

On Friday, your child brought home details regarding our new SCRIP Program. SCRIP purchases directly benefit your own family
by adding savings to your familiy's Outdoor Science School savings!
You can earn money by buying what you would buy anyway!

What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a term that means "substitute money." When you purchase SCRIP, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates or gift cards that are used JUST LIKE CASH! Through the Loma Vista PTO SCRIP Program, you can purchase gift certificates and gift cards for all the places you shop anyway: grocery stores, gas stations, drug stores, restaurants, etc. SCRIP is pre-ordered through the PTO once a month and delivered the following week. Nothing to sell - everything to gain!
How does buying SCRIP benefit my child?
The PTO "pre-sells" the SCRIP to you for full face value. Then, because the PTO buys SCRIP with cash upfront, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. The difference is "banked" for your child's Outdoor Science School tuition.
Orders for October are due in to the Front Office with payment
by Friday morning, October 2nd.

HALLOWEEN PLANS AT LOMA VISTA |
 The PTO will be holding it's annual Pumpkin Patch and Boo-Tique on Thursday, October 22nd. Mary Blanchard, Ruth Woesner and Krista Pruitt have planned a fun afternoon of games and food as well as our annual pumpkin sale! This year for the first time the PTO is organizing a costume swap. Is your house over run with old dress up outfits? Donate them for the costume swap!
Are you interested in being a Boo-Tique vendor? Do you have any gently used costumes to donate? Contact Ruth Woesner at family@woesner.net.
Finally, Loma Vista will host its annual Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 29th. The parade will begin at 9:00 and be followed by classroom parties. Students should plan to arrive at school in costume and then change into regular shool clothes at recess. Parents are welcome to come and watch the fun! |

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Contest Winners!!! |
The Box Tops for Education summer collection contest resulted in 3,550 box tops collected, earning our school $355. What a great start to the collection year! I know that Loma Vista Box Tops for Education detectives can do even better! Keep collecting all year long. The collection bin is in the front office for easy drop-offs whenever you like.
The grand prize winner of $25 is Gracie Pevehouse. Other big collectors were: Nicole Swisher, Amanda Howard, Kayla Howard, Issac Cisneros, Kayla Turay, Sarah Rightmire and Caroline Blanchard, who took home fun toy/book prizes.
Log onto Box Tops for Education at www.btfe.com. Regististration is quick and easy and Loma Vista gets 5 Box Top credits for your registration. There are monthly coupons posted to the site. This month's were worth $26. You download, print and start saving! Take a spin around the site, you'll be surprised at the little things you can do to make a difference for Loma Vista.
