The Mark Minute

Good morning Vikings! Del Mar College begins Fall 2012 with a new look and exciting developments on campus.
We recently unveiled a new brand for Del Mar College: Dreams. Delivered. The new tagline is a promise that we'll continue to do everything we can to make sure our students have the resources, assistance and quality instruction they need to achieve their dreams. In the spirit of that promise, the DMC Foundation announced in July that we are half way to reaching the latest and largest fundraising challenge set by a generous benefactor . There's more to do, and that's why the Foundation has introduced the Double the Dreams campaign to benefit student scholarships. Along with the tagline comes big news! The Viking has Landed, introducing a new vision of our traditional Viking spirit symbol. You can show your Viking spirit by joining the Viking Alumni Association, participating in the upcoming Viking Games in October, and don't forget to pick up your new Viking spirit items now on sale through the Alumni Web site and at the On-Campus DMC Bookstore in the Harvin Student Center. Read about all this and more in this edition of What's New, What's Next. Have a great Fall! - Mark |

Every Dollar Counts!
| |
Del Mar College touches lives every day, training police, nurses, welders, chefs, auto mechanics, and folks like EMS technician Noah Drumright, who now protects our community as a Corpus Christi fire fighter and paramedic. Or Jennifer Robles, who made national headlines when she won first place in a national research challenge over seniors from Harvard and MIT.
Help us rise to the challenge of assisting more students like Noah and Jennifer: If we can raise $2.65 millon by December 31, your donation will almost double with a matching grant for an additional $2 million. All proceeds will be used for local Del Mar College scholarships. Everyone can help, and every dollar counts.

The Viking has Landed!
| |
We recently revealed the new Viking spirit symbol, a product of collaboration between Del Mar College, the local firm of Morehead, Dotts and Rybak, and many hours of feedback and focus groups with students, faculty, staff and alumni.
 | | DMC: Viking Landing Day |
Celebratory activities are planned throughout October, including the Viking Games, with the ultimate Viking competition: a flag football game between the East and West Campuses. The Viking Games culminate with the Viking Carnival, where tropies will be awarded to the winners of the Games. Don't miss it!
