Spring is in swing at Del Mar College, and with it comes new possibilities, new faces and pride in our accomplishments. On April 24, the Board of Regents will get a "look behind the curtain" as they walk through the nearly-completed expansion to our Fine Arts facilities for Drama, Radio/TV, and Art programs. The beautiful new facilities include a full proscenium theatre, classroom and lab space, a radio/television studio, and much more. See below for more good news, and have a great Spring! - Mark |

Wall of Honor 2012

On Saturday, April 14, the Former Students Association and the Del Mar College Alumni Association will induct four more individuals into the ranks of the honored few during the 2012 Del Mar College Wall of Honor Awards Banquet.
This year's select group of inductees includes Anna M. Flores, President and Chief Financial Officer for International Meeting Planners, Inc.; Dr. Mary Jane Garza, Naval Air Station School Liaison Officer; John Marez, Corpus Christi City Council Member representing District 2; and Janie B. Vela, Principal of Blanche Moore Elementary School.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Retama Room, second floor of the Harvin Student Center, on Del Mar College East at Ayers and Baldwin. Individual seating is $40 or $320 for tables of eight. Donations are welcome.

Crawfish Boil

Ayeeeeeee! Calling all Cajuns as well as those who are "Cajun at heart!" The Del Mar College Foundation and Trustee Emeritus Bernie Paulson are bringing back the flavor of the bayou to Corpus Christi. The fourth annual "Bernie's Famous Crawfish Boil" is scheduled for Friday, April 20, to raise funds for DMC student scholarships.

New Coordinator Joins Veterans Center

Tammy Miller has joined Del Mar College as its first Veterans Center Coordinator. A U.S. Navy veteran of some 21 years before retiring in 2006, Miller was a special education teacher and case manager for Gregory-Portland High School prior to accepting her new position at DMC.

Recognition Ceremony 2012
| Anticipation, surprise and relief...students receiving recognition for their achievements during Del Mar College's 61st Annual Recognition Ceremony will experience these emotions as the institution honors individuals listed in Who's Who Among Community College Students, the College's outstanding academic students in each department, East and West Campus Teachers of the Year and the 2012 Hall of Fame inductees.
The College also recognizes Teachers of the Year for both the East and West Campuses, who are nominated and selected through an online ballot process by the DMC student body. All faculty who were nominated will be recognized during the ceremony prior to the two Teacher of the Year being announced.
Thursday, April 19, 7 p.m., Richardson Performance Hall, Del Mar College East, Ayers and Baldwin. A reception in the Harvin Student Center Lobby will follow the ceremony. For more information, call the DMC Student Leadership and Campus Life Office at 361-698-1279.
