I'm Dr. Mark Escamilla,
President of Del Mar College, and I'd like to tell you about exciting things happening right now:

Northwest Center Classes

Del Mar College is now offering classes in Northwest Nueces County covering health sciences, public safety, business and general education courses for residents of Calallen, Tuloso-Midway and surrounding areas. For the summer, those classes will meet in the Annaville Elementary School, located at 3901 Cliff Crenshaw. In the fall, Northwest Center classes are slated for our newest facility, a partnership with the Corpus Christi Medical Center across FM 624 from Calallen High School.

College district residents can enroll for a three-semester hour course for less than $300 in tuition and basic fees. This fall, students living outside the College district will pay only half the out-of-district fees previously charged. More info.

Achieving the Dream

Del Mar College has been selected for a 2010 Achieving the Dream grant that represents an investment of $150,000 over two years to support student success. Achieving the Dream resources were provided by The Meadows Foundation, matched by the College.

Achieving the Dream will assist us in reaching our first goal of Access to Excellence, our strategic plan. The initiative focuses on understanding and making better use of data to implement improvement of student grades in developmental and core courses and in program/degree completion. I will lead a team of faculty and administrators through Achieving the Dream orientation in a few weeks.
More info.
