Features and Benefits

For years designers have loved concealed vertical rod exit devices. The rods and latches are hidden. For almost the same number of years, facilities and security folks have come to dislike concealed vertical rod (CVR) exit devices. The rods and latches are hidden. Getting to the mechanism to adjust or replace springs that have popped out can be challenging. When a device is out of service security can be compromised.By using the feedback of maintenance and facilities personnel; Detex's new CVR design eliminates these challenges.

Operational security, Detex's CVR series all feature a six step latch hold back.

Deadlocking latches must be held retracted to allow the door to reclose and latch. While the door is open, some devices use only one step to hold back the latch.  However, if the user pushes lightly on a CVR device, the latches may retract and clear the strike but not enough to activate the latch hold back, causing the latch to re-extend, while the bottom bolt drags the ground.  This leaves the door unsecure, because the device will not latch.  All Detex CVR devices use a unique six step, latch hold back method. The Detex CVR latches will stay retracted while the door is open, regardless of how the push pad is pressed, insuring the latches always latch upon the door closing.  The benefit here is a much higher level of security.
