BIG BRAND TECHNIQUES
Building Credibility One Choice at a Time
Using the same logo, typefaces and colors over time creates trust
|
There you are, looking at your beautiful, long list of typefaces. They're so tempting, aren't they? You usually use Garamond for all your business marketing materials. But maybe just this once you can try something new. Maybe Bernhard Modern ... hmm, or Cochin ... Don't do it.
Resist the urge to experiment with new typefaces! One of the best ways to build trust in your company is to present it consistently over time. - Use your logo in the same relative position in all your materials. Don't stretch it or skew it.
- Choose and use a limited color palette. Make sure your colors look the same both in print and on the web.
- Find typefaces that are readable and reflect what your company offers. Use them in all your marketing pieces.
- Develop a tagline and marketing copy that explains what you offer. Use the same copy over and over. Reinforce your message to make it stick.
These are tiny choices, but if you make them carefully, your marketing materials will depict a company that is trustworthy and reliable. You'll build credibility one small choice at a time.

DESIGN SCHOOL
Design An E-Book to Market Your Business
You might know it as a white paper, or a special report. Whatever you call it, e-books are a great way to present a particular topic and demonstrate your expertise.
Many companies offer e-books as reference guides on their websites. Others sell their expertise. With an e-junkie.com account, you can easily start earning money from your online e-book.
But when it comes to putting the actual book together, what are your options? What software should you use? How should you set up your pages? Is a horizontal format best, or a vertical? And where can you find images?
To get this information and more, listen to the two-part interview I did with Carole Brown of New Rules of Book Publishing. Carole managed to extract so much information from our conversation she had to break it into two recordings!
