Spotting Disasters Before They Happen
Answer these questions to see if your marketing is on track
Do you ever get that sinking feeling when looking at your small business's marketing?

"What if it's awful and I just can't see it?"

Here are three questions to ask yourself to check the quality of your marketing materials. If you can answer "yes" to each one, you can relax. You're on the right track!

1. Is it obvious who this product or service is intended for?
The best and most successful marketing efforts are targeted toward a specific group. Use copy and images that will resonate with the people you want to reach.

2. Is it clear what you want the reader to do?
Make sure your desired outcome is crystal clear by sticking to one overall message and ending it with a clear call to action.

3. Is the graphic style supporting your efforts?
The overall style of the piece - colors, typography and page layout - should be targeted toward the people you want to reach, and the message should be easy to read and follow.

Here's hoping you can answer "yes" to all of the above when you look at your marketing. If not, be sure to visit the Big Brand System blog to learn more about how to craft compelling marketing pieces.

DESIGN SCHOOL
It's Picnik Time
Picnik.com
One of the topics I'll be teaching in the Big Brand System course is how to make the photos you use for your business look great.

I'm always looking for software that is accessible (meaning inexpensive) and easy to use. I evaluated several different possibilities, and finally decided that I'll be teaching you to use Picnik.com

The company was recently acquired by Google, and it seems they reached the same conclusion I did: it's powerful, but easy-to-use photo editing software.

And Picnik costs absolutely nothing. There's a "Pro" version you can pay a couple of dollars a month to use, but you won't need it. It's powerful and addictively easy as is.
Coming Soon

I'm taking a bit more time to wrap up final details on the Big Brand System course. I am so excited to share what I've put together with all of you!

I decided to expand the offering a bit, and have been in talks with some people who will be fantastic resources to help you create compelling and effective marketing for your business. The additional features are adding to my timetable, but believe me: it will be worth the wait!

So stay tuned: it's coming soon. If you're receiving this newsletter, you'll hear about the course once it's ready to enroll students. If you're interested and want to have the first opportunity to sign up (and get in at a discounted rate) put your name on the early registration list here.
