We are proud to welcome back Danville Children's Choir!

The Danville Children's Choir, under founder and conductor Bruce Richardson, enriched the arts for all ages in Danville and surrounding counties for fifteen years between 1990-2005.  The group performed songs from all periods and many different countries and traveled to Chicago, New York City, and Disney World for choir festivals.

After five years of silence the Choir will began again on January 25 with regular rehearsals on Tuesday evenings under the direction of Meg Stohlmann accompanied by Daniel Wesley.

We are proud to welcome back such an integral part of the community and look forward to the new music and fun they will bring!

600 West Walnut Street, Danville

Join us for Lunch with the Arts this month featuring the Kentucky Music Ensemble at the new Campus Center building at Centre College! The Kentucky Music Ensemble will play music from three traditional genres: ballads, old-time music, and bluegrass. The group will also perform pieces from the modern genre commonly referred to as alternative country. Members of the ensemble will give brief discussions of each of the pieces played during the performance as well. February's Lunch with the Arts is a unique opportunity to hear some very talented students and Kentucky music at its best!

About The Kentucky Music Ensemble

KY Music EnsembleNathan Link joined Centre's faculty in 2006 as assistant professor of music. He was named a Centre Scholar in 2009, received a Stodghill Fellowship for the 2009-10 year, and is serving as a Mellon Global Fellow from 2010-2012, contributing to the development of an African and African-American Studies program at Centre.

He was formerly an instructor at Yale University. He specializes in eighteenth-century opera, with strong secondary interests in nineteenth-century music and aesthetics, the theory of opera, African music, and country and popular music. He currently teaches courses in music history, humanities, and Kentucky music, and leads Centre's Kentucky Ensemble. His publications have appeared in Oxford University Press's Opera Quarterly, the Journal of the American Library Association, the Göttinger Händel Beiträge, and Opera Today, and he is currently working on two books, one on Handel's operas and another on country music.

The Kentucky Music Ensemble began under Link's direction in 2007 and has grown in size and talent every year since, appealing to individuals of all majors and skills.
