ALL ABOARD Birthday Parties!

Do you have children who love trains? Want to give them a birthday party they'll remember forever?

Why not have one in the midst of our exciting All Aboard exhibit?

Birthday parties:

$100: 10 child minimum, each additional child $3. 1 and 1/2 hours with access to all three floors and activities of the All Aboard exhibit! You bring your own paper products, cake, etc.
$200: 10 child minimum, each additional child $3. 1 and 1/2 hours with access to all three floors and activities of the All Aboard exhibit! We supply paper products, goodie bags with train themed items from our gift shop, and a special today for the birthday child!

Parties can be scheduled for any Monday or Tuesday from 3p.m. - 8p.m.

The trains have arrived!

Danville's Community Arts Center brings trains and railway folklore to Central Kentucky, like never seen before-thanks to our sponsor, Danville Pediatrics! All three floors of the Arts Center are filled with train history, music, and folklore including a rail simulator that will bring it all to life! Imagine the creative possibilities...

The exhibit is open to the public January 5 through February 27, 2011.

Featuring: Lori Kagan-Moore and The Great American Dollhouse Museum
AT THE GREAT AMERICAN DOLLHOUSE MUSEUM

Tour the exhibits, lunch in the banquet room, and hear a presentation on the art of miniatures by curator Lori Kagan-Moore. Lori has combine miniaturism and storytelling in a unique way geared to engaging audiences. A social history museum in miniature, the exhibits focus on showing the day-to-day lives of ordinary people in over 200 miniature settings of neighborhoods and towns. The antique and artisan scenes are depicted in extraordinary detail, with text stories and captions provided to help the visitor enter the world of the setting. Lori will discuss the ways in which she worked to craft an experience-oriented rather than an artifact-oriented museum.

About Lori Kagan-Moore

Born in New York and raised in Michigan, Lori Kagan-Moore holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan, a Master's of Social Work, and a Master's in Public Administration, both from Ohio State University. After some years on the clinical faculty of Ohio State's Department of Psychiatry, she decided on a career change that led to her opening Lori's Antique and Vintage Jewelry in Lexington. In 1991, Lori's husband Patrick Kagan-Moore joined Centre College's faculty and the couple moved to Danville, where they have raised two daughters, Hannah and Emma. In 2006, the Kagan-Moores purchased the museum building, a national guard armory built in 1939 under the Works Progress Administration. After an all-encompassing renovation and landscaping of two surrounding acres, The Great American Dollhouse Museum opened its doors in 2008.

Every third Wednesday of the month, the CAC will present a featured artist who will present and demonstrate his or her work, with time available for discussion with the artist. The monthly arts series will feature everything from literary arts to performing, theatrical and visual arts. For the months of January and February 2011 our series will take place at different, special locations, not at the Arts Center.
