DINOSAUR: THE BIG PICTURE:
Any way you look at it, the exhibit was huge! Dinosaurs: The Big Picture was a hit in every sense of the word, yet the impact of the exhibit went far beyond the "wow" factor visitors experienced when they walked in the front door. The three-month exhibit provided a major boost in terms of visibility for the CAC, with a value-added lift for tourism locally. The exhibit drew 14,286 visitors to Danville from throughout the bluegrass and beyond, each taking in the dinosaurs, then spending dollars at our local restaurants and businesses. Thank you, Danville and Boyle County, for extending your hospitality to the thousands who visited Danville to see the dinosaurs!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you....
None of this success could have been realized without the generosity of our sponsors Commonwealth Cancer Center, the amazing collection provided by Jack and John Hankla, and our dedicated team of volunteers. The success of Dinosaurs: The Big Picture was in large part due to the 118 wonderful volunteers who invested their time at the Arts Center. We had volunteers who led activities and science lessons for the near 6500 school students who toured on field trips; volunteers who swept and cleaned; volunteers who built structures; volunteers who prepared countless amounts of art activity materials; volunteers who welcomed visitors; and volunteers who assisted with our gift shop. With over 11,000 square feet of exhibit space, we needed every pair of hands to make sure that all of the visitors enjoyed their experience at the Community Arts Center. Appropriately, April is National Volunteer Month, so please allow us to thank the many gracious and dedicated volunteers who gave of their time to make Dinosaurs: The Big Picture such a rousing success. 14,000th Visitor to the Exhibit!
Channing Baker was the 14,000th visitor to the Dinosaurs: The Big Picture exhibit! Channing, a 4th grader from Perryville Elementary, visited the exhibit with her mother, Lori, March 25. She was awarded a toy Pteranodon by Executive Director, Mary Beth Touchstone.
