Happy 4th of July!
July 4, 2012
Dear ,

I apologize for the long gap between letters here.  Seems like once summer gets here time just goes into high gear and Norwalk is upon us before I know it.  Norwalk is a short 4 weeks away!  Are you ready?

Despite the hot weather, we have had the TIP digger out to do some testing as we made some major changes to the chassis and engine combo.  Hopefully one more test session and we will be ready to go for Norwalk.

Speaking of Norwalk, anyone who makes a purchase from Tin Indian Performance will be entered into a drawing for tickets to the 2012 Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals.  More info below....

We hope that everyone has a very happy and safe holiday.  Talk to you in a few weeks!

Sincerely,

Kevin Swaney

ps.  Shop hours - We have implemented our Norwalk cutoff for engine completion this week.  We will also have very limited hours the week of July 30th as it takes quite a bit of time and effort to prepare to sponsor the event.

Bill Bollman's 850 Horse IA1 combo

Bill gave us a bunch of parts last fall from a motor he had bought over the internet.  Unfortunately it wasn't what it was purported to be so Bill wanted us to go through the motor and make it a reliable combo.  This combo was based around an IA1 block and a pair of Edelbrock heads.  Quite a bit of machine work had to be done to the block but when it was all said and done the engine was 540 cid and it made its way to the dyno in early April 2012.
Bill Bolman's Pontiac 540 on dyno
This 540 cid Pontiac engine is equipped with a standard Pontiac solid roller cam and a set of Edelbrock heads. The engine also has GRP rods, Moledex billet crankshaft, and Ross gas ported pistons.  The induction is handled with a 1250 dominator  carb on top of a Victor intake.  We also set this engine up with our custom engraved TIP PRW logo covers and one of our 3 vane TIP evac kits.  This combo made 846 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 734 ft lbs of torque at 5500!  This combo will be installed in Bill's 1974 GTO.

Eric Larson moves to #2 on the Fastest Pontiacs List
Boss Bird
Congratulations to Eric Larson who ran a 6.507 @ 206.57 mph at Great Lakes Dragway on May 27th.  That pass puts him at #2 on the all time Fastest Pontiac List!  Unfortunately on a pass later that weekend, a fuel shutoff valve broke and the car was severely burned.
