 Plugging along.....                       May 31, 2011
Dear ,

It seems it has done nothing but rain here in north east Ohio the past month!  Lots of floods and tornado warnings.  To date we have not been able to make it out to the track at all yet this season.  That being said we have decided to remove the power plant from the TIP Dragster and start to prepare for Norwalk.  The race will be here before we know it so we better get started now!

We hope to begin work on the new Warp 6 headed power plant that will go into the dragster very soon.  My partner Mike Williams has also been working on his back halfed '66 GTO and we plan on having it back at Norwalk this year.  Mike has had some chassis upgrades made and we went back through the motor looking for a little more power as well.  We are looking forward to seeing what the new combo will do at the track!

Hopefully your spring projects are coming together for you!  We hope to see you at the track very soon.

Sincerely,

Kevin Swaney

Mickey Turrin's 6X  Headed Stocker Rebuild

Mickey's 400 cid Pontiac engine on the dyno

Mickey Turrin brought us an old tired 400 that she wanted rebuilt to put in her 1970 GTO. The engine is based around a 1970's 400 block.  Upon disassembly we uncovered that there were quite a few rod bearings that were very worn as well as a cracked crankshaft!  We completely went through this engine from top to bottom.  Not much in the way of performance modifications was made to the motor...... no head porting, no gasket matching, etc.

Everything was completely disassembled and cleaned.    We used a replacement stock crankshaft and a set of Pro-Warrior press fit rods.  The existing Sealed Power pistons were in reusable shape so a touchup hone was performed before we put the bottom end back together to net us a pump gas friendly compression ratio.   We fit the block with our 3" Viton rear main seal and used our complete line of Tin Indian Performance gaskets throughout the build.    We used a Crower 60916 hyd flat tapped cam with matching lifters and topped off the engine with a fresh Quadrajet rebuild and a pair of 3.100 tall Billet-TEK valve covers.

This 406 Pontiac engine was broke in on the dyno and all of the fluids and settings checked. This particular combo makes over 13" of vac at 850 rpm.

This very modest build made 351 hp and 431 ft lbs of torque!  Should make a nice little street engine for Mickey and her '70 GTO!
