Program Your Thermostat for Savings

Thermostat

A change in weather like the one we experienced this week means it's time to review the programming on your thermostat.  That is, if yours is programmable.  If it isn't you might want to consider swapping yours for a new one.  It's a small investment, a project that most homeowners can do and it can pay off big in energy savings.  Then, a few minutes spent programming each season can pay of big time.

Smoke Detectors 101

According to the National Fire Prevention Association, "In 2005-2009, roughly two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in properties without working smoke alarms."

Test smoke alarms monthly.  Simply press the test button on the alarm.  If it does not work, replace the battery.  If that doesn't do the trick, replace the alarm.

Replace your alarms every 10 years to take advantage of the latest technology and ensure working equipment.   Read more.
