Greetings!
Moving is more than packing boxes, it is a journey. It is especially so as we think about our parents downsizing and relocating from a home where a lifetime of memories are cherished. We have created this newsletter as a way to help shine a new light on the often difficult and emotional task of moving. Our goal is to offer a calming and thoughtful approach to the moving process, for yourself, or a loved one. Our goal is to make moving a positive, healthy and uplifting transition for everyone involved.

Reflections of the Moving Mentor ~ Barbara Z. Perman, Ph.D.
| The Freedom To Let Go
"You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves
your arms too full to embrace the present". ~Jan Glidewell
Taking the inner journey of downsizing gives us more room for joy, more
space for new life to flow in. It opens us to receiving the gift of the
present.

| Three Boxes, One Goal
Whether you are preparing to move soon, or trying to sort and disperse unneeded household items as part of spring cleaning, there is no better time to begin than now. Organization is the key.
Start by cleaning out and sorting storage areas such as the attic, garage, basement and closets. Moving Mentor recommends sorting items into 3 categories:
- Definitely goes with me
- Definitely doesn't go with me
- Undecided
Boxes can be purchased from local moving and storage companies, or collected from liquor and grocery stores. It's also a good idea to purchase large size trash bags (contractor bags are best, but lawn & leaf bags can also work) to use for items that will be discarded.
As you move from room to room, you may want to set up a staging area in which to work; one room on each floor of your home or a corner of each room where you can sort and eventually pack.
The time you take now to thoughtfully sort and disperse your unwanted items will reduce your moving time AND COST. For more tips on how to make your move less stressful . . . .
