Greetings!
Happy New Year! As we at Moving Mentor reflect upon the last decade, we often think about the many moves we have helped families make over the years. We also enjoy staying in touch with our clients. It's wonderful to know that most are loving life and are filled with a renewed energy having "rightsized".
Moving is more than packing boxes, it is a journey. It is especially so as we think about our parents downsizing and relocating from a home where a lifetime of memories are cherished. We have created this newsletter as a way to help shine a new light on the often difficult and emotional task of moving. Our goal is to offer a calming and thoughtful approach to the moving process, for yourself, or a loved one. Our goal is to make moving a positive, healthy and uplifting transition for everyone involved.

Dr. Barbara Perman To Speak At National Conference
|
The DNA of a Move
Dr. Barbara Perman will speak at the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) 2010 Conference held in Las Vegas, NV from February 11 - 14.
Her presentation, "The DNA of a Move," will focus on the developmental stages of a move, teaching senior move managers how to identify stages of the moving process, recognizing and supporting their client's perspective through each stage. The ability to link the emotional and practical aspects of the move will provide professionals valuable tools designed to enhance the quality of their services to seniors and their families.

What Is Your "Mission Statement" - Part 1
When facing a possible transition, whether it be an actual move or other life changing event, it may be helpful to clarify the purpose and values you have at this stage in your life. If you have a partner, you and your partner should each create such a mission statement. This gives you a basis upon which to communicate what is important to you now. Doing this can open up new possibilities for decision-making about what is really important to you. In the case of a pending move, having a mission statement can help you decide what to take with you and what you don't need anymore.
Years ago, I created a mission statement that I still refer to today. As a way to start thinking about forming your own mission statement, I am happy to share with you what I wrote. Next month I will provide suggestions on how to organize your own values statement.
Contact us if you would like a template for creating a mission statement of your own.
