Greetings!
Have you ever tried to drink from a garden hose turned "full on"? How about a fire hose? Well, much of the time here at KVI we feel like that (drinking from the fire hose).
In addition to the weeks I (Glenn) have put into getting our new website ready for launch, dozens of hours Rebecca has spent on the phone with wholesale contacts, and our days tending the store, there have been the spring orders to place with every supplier (watch the site for new products!) and prepping for the summer show season.
But in the midst of all this, there have been increasing opportunities to discover more of WHO we really are. There are a lot of terms that could be used (besides "crazy"), but perhaps the best is that of social entrepreneurs.
This past month, Rebecca gave a brief talk to her NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) chapter at a Power Luncheon. Her preparation helped us to cement our understanding of social entrepreneurship and by the time she got done, we both said "That's US!" You can visit our
blog to read about her talk, and I've included a link to her
handout (with a few of her own notes as well.
You'll notice that our schedule has changed for this month. In mid-May we were invited to participate in
Fair Trade Boston Day. Initially we said a reluctant "no" because we were already registered for NewarkFest. But as we considered it, we realized that becoming more directly connected to the Fair Trade movement is strategic for where we believe KVI is heading. So we're off on a 3-day trip to Boston in just a few days.
(Time for another sip from the hose...)
